2. Collection and storage of person-specific data

What is person-specific data?

Person-specific data describes details relating to the actual or personal relationships of a specific or identifiable natural person. Such details include, for example, your name, your telephone number, your address, and all existing data that you disclose to us during registration and when opening your customer account. It does not include statistical data, which are collected when visiting Schindelhauerbikes.com, which cannot be traced back to person-specific data. These are, for example, general statistics about the number of visitors on specific sites.

Person-specific data is being collected in the following cases:

In addition, we use cookies and web analytics services when visiting our website. See point 4 of this privacy policy.

2.2. When registering on our website

If you register with us via "My Account" or during the ordering process, we set up a customer account, i.e. password-protected, direct access to your existing data stored by us. This allows you, amongst other things, to view past orders, or to manage personal data. You agree to make sure to keep your login data/password private and not give access to third parties. We cannot account for misused passwords.

When registering on our website, Schindelhauer Bikes collects the following data as mandatory information:

The compilation of the mandatory information is done to collect your data as our contractual partner. For your order we need your correct name, address and payment data. We need your e-mail address so that we can confirm receipt of your order and its dispatch, and so that we can communicate with you in general. We also use your e-mail address to identify you as a log-in name to your customer account. Furthermore you will receive your order- and shipping confirmation via this e-mail address.

We use the SSL-protocol in order to encrypt your data – before it is transmitted to us – so that a third party cannot reconstruct it. This encryption process will continue to ensure that your data will only be sent to our server. Upon arrival of your data on our server, it will be checked for completeness and correctness. After completion of the contract, the data is being stored under consideration of tax and commercial retention periods and then deleted after the deadline, unless you have consented to the further processing and use.

2.3. When subscribing to our newsletter

For the distribution of the newsletter, we have contracted Mailchimp, a company of The Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308 USA. The privacy policy can be viewed here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/

When subscribing to our newsletter you can choose how we can contact you: by email from the mailing list or for further marketing purposes. We will then send you a confirmation mail, in which, as a last step, you can confirm your request to receive the specified e-mails. If you explicitly agreed to it, Schindelhauer Bikes will use your e-mail address to send you a regular newsletter. At the end of each newsletter there is a link where you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. You can also unsubscribe here: unsubscribe

You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by writing (email, letter, fax) to the contact details listed under point 1.

With the help of MailChimp we can analyse our newsletter campaigns. When you open an e-mail sent by MailChimp, a file included in the e-mail (called web-beacon) connects to MailChimp's servers in the United States. This will determine if a newsletter message has been opened and which links may have been clicked. In addition, technical information is collected (e.g., time of retrieval, IP address, browser type, and operating system). This information can not be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. They serve exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better tailor future newsletters to the interests of the recipients.

A data processing agreement was concluded with MailChimp as per article 28 (3) sentence 1 GDPR.

3. Transfer of personal data to third parties

Without your explicit approval, Schindelhauer Bikes will not transfer or sell any data to third parties, unless it is essential for the completion of your order (e.g. when transferring data to our retailers, if you have chosen to have your bike shipped and assembled there during the checkout process). Different rules only apply if there is a deviating legal obligation or if it becomes vital in enforcing our rights, especially any compensations relating to our contract with you.

When processing orders, for example, the service companies used by us (transport companies, logistics companies, banks) are sent the data they require for processing and concluding orders. The data passed on to our service providers in this context may only be used by them for fulfilling their duties. Whenever there is a processing of data, we have contracts in place which are laid out in accordance to GDPR law.

4. Cookies – General Information

Cookies help in many ways to make your visit to our website easier, enjoyable and worthwhile. Cookies are small information files that are stored by your Internet browser on the hard disk of your computer. Cookies do not contain personal data. You can configure your browser so that no cookies are stored on your computer or a note always appears when you receive a new cookie.

We distinguish between three types of cookies:

  • Necessary cookies
The shop system stores in these cookies e.g. the contents of your shopping cart or your language setting. For example, should you be logged into your customer account while using the site, the information stored in cookies will be assigned to your customer account and saved. Also, the operation of our shop is not possible without Google Maps, due to the connection to our dealer search, including the choice of shipping to a dealer. A transfer of personal data to third parties is only necessary for the correct operation of our website. If you do not use the dealer search, no cookies are set.

Necessary cookies cannot be deactivated, as our shop would not work otherwise.

  • Statistics
Statistics cookies help website owners understand how visitors interact with Web pages by collecting and reporting information anonymously.

We use the service provider Google Analytics, for more information see point 4.1.

  • Marketing & Social Media
We use so-called third-party cookies of external services on this website. Through these cookies it is possible to gather information about the surfing habits, which in turn are evaluated for the delivery of relevant advertising or the determination of their success. This happens exclusively via pseudonymisation and does not allow direct assignment to or identification of you as a person. Further information under point 4.2.

4.1. Statistics & Web Analytics – Google Analytics

For the purpose of the needs-based design and continuous optimization of our website, we use Google Analytics on the basis of Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR. This is a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited ("Google"), a company incorporated and operated under Irish law (register number: 368047), located at Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. In this context, pseudonymised usage profiles are created and cookies are used. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is transmitted on Google servers in the following, pseudonymous form:

  • Browser type / version,
  • used operating system,
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page),
  • Host name of the accessing computer (IP address),
  • Time of the server request

Google operates servers around the world. Therefore, your data may also be processed on servers outside the EU, for example on servers of Google LLC. in the US. To comply with the EU Privacy Policy, Google has been certified to the requirements of the EU-US Privacy Shield Agreement.

This information may also be transferred to third parties if required by law or as far as third parties process this data on their behalf. Your IP address will never be merged with other Google data. The IP addresses are anonymised, so that an assignment is not possible (so-called IP masking).

We use Google Analytics, including the features of Universal Analytics and Google Signals. Universal Analytics allows us to analyse the activities on our pages across devices (so-called cross device tracking) – for example, when accessing via laptop and later via a tablet. This is made possible by the assignment of a pseudonymous user ID to a user. Google Signals uses Google Analytics to collect visitor data and link it to the Google Accounts of logged-in users. Visitor data includes end user location, search history, YouTube history, and partnering Google websites. This data is used to provide cross-device aggregated and anonymized statistics on the behaviour of your users. However, no personal information will be forwarded to Google. Although Google Signals and Universal Analytics add additional functionality to Google Analytics, it does not mean that it limits privacy practices such as IP masking or the browser add-on listed under “Possible objection” below.

The associated cookies are stored, after giving consent, for a duration of between one day and 24 months.

You can prevent the installation of cookies by setting the browser software accordingly, as well as the cookie hint displayed at the beginning of your visit. However, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.
