Continental Grand Prix Urban

We set out to find the ideal tyre for urban use and found a match made in heaven with Continental. Taking the casing of the Grand Prix as a starting point, together we developed what is possibly the best tyre ever made for urban environments. For extra comfort, we decided to increase the tyre volume and adjusted the dimensions to a wider 35-622. Highly valued by racing cyclists, we built the tyre using the Black Chilli high-end rubber compound to provide the right grip in both wet and dry conditions. With PolyXBreaker and an additional rubber layer, this folding tyre benefits from all-round puncture protection and black reflective tape ensures extra safety at night. All of these benefits at a weight of only 350 g.

The GP Urban boasts a striking profile we designed ourselves. The tyre comes as standard on the following models: Arthur, Friedrich, Frieda, Ludwig XIV and Wilhelm.

shipping options

There are two options for you to buy a Schindelhauer bike:

1. online purchase and delivery to a Schindelhauer dealer of your choice (euro zone only):
A preffered choice would be to have your bike delivered to one of our dealers at no extra cost. They set up the bike for you professionally and will have it ready for pickup by arrangement. During your online purchase process, you will be shown the option to select a dealer near you as delivery address.

2. delivery directly to your home:
If you cannot find a Schindelhauer dealer in your area through our dealer search, you can also have your desired model delivered directly to your home. The bike is delivered almost completely assembled. As explained in the manual which comes with the bike, only the tires must be filled with the appropriate air pressure, the pedals and, if included, the frame-mounted front rack need to be attached, as well as the handlebars set straight.

BlackChili Compound

For BlackChili we refine newly developed synthetic rubbers with natural rubber with the proven high-performance tread compound. We use these rubbers with special nanometric carbon soot particles, which are optimized in shape and surface properties for best uses for the intended tyre. BlackChili Compound reaches an unprecedented of performance. Tyres with BlackChili Compound reach an unprecedented level of performance. Compared to the previous best Activated Silica Compound, BlackChili tyres have 26 % less rolling resistance, a 30 % higher friction value (grip) and a 5 % increase in mileage. The complex compound technology is so sensitive that tyres with BlackChili Compound can only be produced exclusively in our German Korbach factory.

PolyX Breaker

With our PolyX Breaker®, we bring our car expertise to the bicycle tyre segment: Polyester has been used successfully for years in car tyres and been tried and tested many times. The extremely resistant polyester fibre is woven tightly crosswise. In this way, a very high fabric density is reached which not only makes the Breaker more resistant to foreign objects but is also especially resistant to punctures. The rolling resistance is also not negatively affected by the PolyX Breaker®.

Reflex stripe

The black reflective stripe is a new development and is used for the first time in this tyre. During the day, the reflex stripe hides and is barely visible. As soon as light falls the reflective stripe, it replaces the classic cat eyes.
